Educational Game Design Projects

The Chicken of Tomorrow

A board game meant to help players understand some of the assumptions behind modern asset-based pedagogical frameworks such as funds of knowledge and cultural capital. These games are being used in ongoing research investigating whether games, paired with properly oriented pedagogical scaffolding, can foster resistance and other transformative action in minoritized undergraduate students.

Cities on the Edge of War

An immersive strategy/roleplaying game set during the Peloponnesian War. As part of the course Greek History through Games, Cities is a full-semester game experience designed to teach perspective-taking and combat presentist thinking in history students. I have been a part of the design team since 2018.

Trending - The Network Game

Part of the Visualizing Finds of Identity (VFOI) project, which was recently funded by an NSF ITEST grant. As a part of a unit on network science and data literacy for middle school students, Trending helps learners explore social media advertising and allow students to explore the concept of spread in a semi-authentic context. Importantly, it is designed to help students made
connections between the material and their own funds of identity.
